The National dog show took place on the 8th and 9th of December in Liepāja. We headed out to Liepāja already in the eve of Friday and comfortably settled down in one of Liepāja’s cosiest hotels – Lībava. I think that Salsa really enjoyed this trip because she was the centre of attention at all times. She accompanied us in every café and restaurant we went to. When we had strolls in parks she always had along her favourite toy – a fluffy duckling. In these same parks Salsa had loads of fun with her newly-found friends.
However, I was delighted that the experienced Hungarian judge’s (Vilmoš Kardoš) knowledge about Labradors was broad and that he was well aware of the yellow Labrador’s tone pallet (from light cream to fox-red). When we later went to speak with judge Kardoš, he was astonished to hear that my previous two judges (Belarus and Ukraine) were so surprised about such a red colour.
Right besides us during the trip was Salsa’s godmother and my good friend – Iveta. She was irreplaceable both in the ups, like when Salsa received the PP certificate and a perfect mark, and downs, like when we had to carry all of the heavy stuff to and from the dog show.
